Chris Martin Surprises Fans with 'Jai Shree Ram' at Coldplay Mumbai Concert

Coldplay began their India tour in Mumbai with a spectacular concert. The event was held at DY Patil Stadium on Saturday evening. The British band led by Chris Martin gave an unforgettable performance.

They performed their iconic songs including Fix You and A Sky Full of Stars. The venue was decorated with colorful lights, elaborate designs and confetti cannons. These created a magical atmosphere for the audience.

Chris Martin surprised the audience by speaking a few Hindi words. After finishing a song, he thanked the audience by saying, "Shukriya." Later, he surprised everyone by saying, "Jai Shri Ram."

Martin noticed a placard in the audience with the words "Jai Shri Ram" written on it. He read it aloud which thrilled the crowd. He then asked the audience what the phrase meant.

Before the concert, Martin visited the Shri Babulnath Temple in Mumbai. He was accompanied by his partner and actress Dakota Johnson. Both wore traditional Indian attire for the temple visit.

The concert also thrilled cricket fans in the audience. During one of the final songs Chris Martin mentioned India's star bowler Jasprit Bumrah. He said, "Hold on, we have to finish the show because Jasprit Bumrah wants to come and play backstage."

He added, "He says he needs to bowl at me now." The crowd cheered loudly when they heard Bumrah’s name. Many thought Bumrah would appear on stage. However, he did not show up.

The mention of Bumrah delighted cricket fans attending the concert. Bumrah was recently named Player of the Series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25. He took 32 wickets in the five-match series against Australia. He also captained the Indian team in the first and final Test matches.

Coldplay’s concert was organized by BookMyShow Live. The band will perform again in Mumbai on January 21. This performance is part of their Music of the Spheres tour.
