Jailer 2: Hrithik's Costly Cameo Getting Wasted

Superstar Rajnikanth’s latest movie “Jailer 2” is hitting cinemas in a couple of days on the eve of the Dasara holiday season. The film is hitting cinemas in two days, and it’s already known that this high-profile sequel has so many cameos, including the likes of Shivrajkumar, Mithun Chakravarthy and more. However, one of the costliest among all of these is the induction of Hrithik Roshan for a small cameo after Shah Rukh Khan walked away from it. But then, here’s what is happening.

Apparently, the film Jailer 2 has made a deal with the OTT platform that it will hit digital streaming just 30 days after the release in theatres. However, most of the North India and Central India multiplex chains have a condition that a film will be released in their theatres (screens) only if the OTT release window is more than 8 weeks, which is 2 months from the date of release. As Jailer 2 didn’t meet that, multiplexes are not releasing the movie, while single screens gave a go-ahead. But then, the costly cameo of Hrithik Roshan is actually expected to pull large Bollywood crowds to theatres, and that very purpose is hurt now.

That said, with Superstar Rajnikanth also not holding a single press meet or any other event for Jailer 2 so far, many are wondering if the film has impressed the star hero or not. On the other hand, the film needs to get extreme hype to work out at the box office.
