Did Naga Vamsi Invest Too Much In Jailer 2?

It has already come out that Superstar Rajnikanth’s Jailer 2 is suffering from a lack of hype, and also the poor promotions are killing the excitement of the audience. On the other hand, Telugu producer Naga Vamsi has shocked everyone in the trade by putting in lots of money even after some bad experiences in recent times in terms of distributing movies.

Reports are coming that Naga Vamsi has invested around ₹45 crores to acquire the Telugu states rights of Jailer 2. That’s an exorbitant price for a Tamil movie in recent times. Because the success of Tamil movies has gone down recently, however, only some films like Karuppu have clicked.

And then, to recover the ₹45 crores investment, the film should collect around ₹80-90 crores, which is very tough. Because of the lack of hype, the film should run only on word of mouth, and though Dasara has that potential, somehow the result of Coolie has changed the way people look at Rajnikanth’s movies these days.

However, movie distribution deals are not being made like Non-Returnable-Advance these days, and with Sun Pictures being the producers, they have the likes of upcoming biggies Raaka, which would be given to the same distributor if Jailer 2 goes for a toss. For now, it looks like Naga Vamsi is riding on a lion here.
