Biggest Opening Week Ever for 'Jailer' Starring Rajinikanth
Looking at the overall figures, "Jailer" has emerged as the second highest first week grosser in Kollywood history.
Rajinikanth's latest movie, "Jailer," is making waves at the box office, delivering impressive performances throughout its first week. Following a spectacular opening weekend, the film continued its strong run on Monday, and on Independence Day, it capitalized on the holiday, surpassing its first-day numbers in various regions within the Telugu states.
Looking at the overall figures, "Jailer" has emerged as the second highest first week grosser in Kollywood history. Previously, Rajinikanth and Shankar's "2.0" held the record as Kollywood's highest first-week grosser, amassing over 450Cr+ in global earnings. The film's Hindi and Telugu versions contributed significantly to its success.
"Ponniyin Selvan 1" occupied the second spot with around 330Cr in gross earnings. Now, "Jailer" has shattered this record. With today's collections, it is set to surpass the 350Cr gross milestone globally, reaching an approximate 390Cr in six days. Comfortably crossing the 400Cr mark today, it secures its place as the second highest first week grosser in Kollywood history, trailing only behind "2.0."
Helmed by director Nelson Dilip Kumar, known for projects like Vijay's "Beast" and Siva Karthikeyan's "Doctor," the Rajini starrer generated significant buzz among audiences. A captivating trailer, captivating songs, and a star studded cast featuring Mohanlal, Ramya Krishna, and Shiva Rajkumar contributed to its anticipation.
Rajinikanth's magnetic on-screen presence and dynamic action sequences have left an indelible mark on viewers. Nelson's strong comeback after the setback of "Beast," coupled with Anirudh's exceptional background music, have been major highlights of the film.
