Legendary filmmaker James Cameron has shared a strong warning about the future of Hollywood. He is unhappy with the possible deal between Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery. Cameron believes this move could seriously damage the movie industry, especially movie theatres.

In a letter written to American Senator Mike Lee, Cameron said that selling Warner Bros. to Netflix would be a very bad decision. He explained that theatres could slowly shut down and many people working in films could lose their jobs. Cameron said cinema has been his life’s passion and watching films in theatres is very important to him.

According to Cameron, Netflix’s business model focuses mainly on online streaming. He feels this model does not support big theatrical releases the way traditional studios do. He warned that if streaming companies control major studios, fewer films will be made for the big screen. This could reduce creativity and limit opportunities for filmmakers.

Cameron also pointed out that Warner Bros. is one of the last major studios that still supports large-scale filmmaking. If this studio also moves completely towards streaming, Hollywood could lose its global leadership in cinema. He feels serious filmmaking needs theatres, audiences, and shared viewing experiences.

Senator Mike Lee replied to Cameron’s concerns and said he agrees with many of them. He confirmed that several actors, directors, and industry professionals have reached out with similar worries. Lee said he plans to conduct further hearings to discuss the issue and understand its long-term impact.
