One of the big mysteries that everyone wants to understand when it comes to “Jana Nayagan” is why the film took such a huge time to hit cinemas and why it went through a lot of turmoil after knocking on the doors of the High Court regarding the film’s Censor Certificate. Though many know that political reasons have held the film back from releasing in January 2026, the producer chose not to comment on all those aspects.

“We are able to smile and talk now, but in reality, the time we took to shoot and make this film is less than half the time we have taken to obtain the Censor Certificate for the movie”, said producer K Venkata Narayana, who runs the KVN Productions that produced Tamil Superstar Vijay’s Jana Nayagan. Despite saying that the Censoring took a whole lot of time for the movie, the producer hasn’t lost his cool, and stated only a joke about the long time it took.

A film that was supposed to release on January 9, 2026, is finally releasing on July 23, 2026, and the CBFC has just cut 10 seconds of footage from the film, while 20 seconds of footage was asked to be muted/blurred/altered. That’s the major shocker because it literally took 6 months to just come up with these corrections, thus eating away at the profitable Sankranthi season for the movie.
