Jana Nayagan To Postpone From Jan 9th?

Uncertainty continues to loom over Tamil Superstar Vijay’s latest flick, Jana Nayagan, whose Censor certification ran into issues after a complaint was filed on how the film’s portrayal of certain scenes might lead to communal tensions. Going by the High Court’s latest act, it looks like January 9th is not possible for the movie.

While the release date of the film is fast approaching, the Tamil Nadu High Court has reserved its judgment on the whole issue for January 9th, which happens to be the release date of the movie. Sources indicate that the film’s producers might knock on the doors of the Supreme Court for a quick resolution of the issue, such that the movie will have a smooth release as planned.

However, if they miss out the Jan 9th date, surely the Overseas weekend collections will be dented huge, while the holiday advantage also comes down. But then, if the issues get resolved even by the 9th, Jana Nayagan could still target January 14th, the festival holiday date, thus making up for missing out the first date, though a significant revenue dent will be there.

After hearing the arguments from the lawyers defending Jana Nayagan, many thought that the Court would pronounce a verdict today itself, but the hearing was reserved to January 9th. Will the makers of the film announce the postponement officially or not is something we have seen.
