The piracy case involving Tamil superstar Vijay's upcoming film Jana Nayagan has taken a serious turn. Chennai Police informed the Madras High Court that nearly 1.2 crore people watched the leaked version of the movie before its official release. The shocking update was shared during a court hearing related to the film leak case.

According to the police, the film was leaked on April 9, even before it received certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The case is currently being investigated, and a total of 21 people have been named as accused.

During the hearing, two accused requested bail from the court. However, the Madras High Court rejected their petitions after considering the seriousness of the case. The court also noted that there were concerns about possible tampering with evidence if the accused were released.

The investigation revealed that the main accused was a freelance film editor. Police claimed that he copied movie footage from an editing studio using a hard drive. Later, he allegedly worked with two of his brothers to combine the footage into a complete movie. The pirated version was then uploaded online and shared through piracy websites, making it available to millions of viewers.

The prosecution said that the illegal copy spread very quickly across the internet. Even though the film's production company, KVN Productions, obtained a court order to block unauthorized online screenings, the damage had already been done. Officials estimated that around 1.2 crore people had watched the pirated version before it was removed from several websites.

Police also told the court that two accused are still absconding. Investigators believe that further questioning is necessary to trace the money earned through the piracy network and identify everyone involved in the illegal distribution.

Meanwhile, Jana Nayagan is also facing delays in its official release. The film is still waiting for CBFC clearance, and the makers have not announced a new release date. Originally, the movie was expected to hit theatres earlier this year.
