Vijay Is CM, But No Relief For Jana Nayagan?

In the name of a political agenda part of the movie, Superstar Vijay’s “Jana Nayagan” which has a grand pre-release event and is hailed as the star’s last film, got its release stalled. The film was supposed to release on January 9th, but the Censor Board refused to issue a certificate. Later, all the parties involved in the case went to the Court, and even the Court stated that CBFC should send the film to the revising committee and a decision should be made accordingly. Many thought that the film would be released after the election results came out.

On May 4th, not only did the election results come out, but Vijay also won with a thumping majority and became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Before that, producer KVN Productions, who bankrolled the film, had gone through severe financial distress, and their other production ventures like Yash’s Toxic also experienced delays. While Toxic’s release date is locked as 26-08-26, August 26th, there’s still no word about Jana Nayagan. As CM Vijay is already in office and will be completing 2 months as well, many are wondering why Jana Nayagan is still not finding its footing to hit the cinemas.

Meanwhile, with Toxic locking the date and Chiranjeevi’s film rolling on the floors, it looks like KVN Productions has successfully managed to come out of the financial slump they were pushed into due to the delay of Jana Nayagan. However, if Jana Nayagan hits cinemas now, surely it’s going to make bigger collections than expected, due to both Vijay’s star power and his electoral win.
