Not every spotlight shines from a stage—some find their glow on red carpets thousands of miles away. For Janhvi Kapoor, that glow just hit brighter than ever. After back-to-back setbacks in Bollywood, her name is suddenly echoing on a global stage. And not just any stage—Cannes.
Janhvi’s new film Home Bound, co-starring Ishaan Khatter, has been selected for screening in the ‘Un Certain Regard’ section at the 78th Cannes Film Festival. Directed by Hyderabad-based filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan, the movie joins a prestigious league of artistic films with global appeal. Ghaywan’s debut Masaan had once walked the same path, and now Home Bound is carrying that legacy forward. The film is scheduled to be screened between May 13 and 24, alongside the best in world cinema.
Taking to Instagram, Janhvi called this moment one of the proudest in her journey. She shared her joy not just as an actor, but as someone representing Indian cinema at an international platform. Producer Karan Johar added that stories rooted in India are finally being recognized across the world for their emotional depth and vision.
Today it’s Cannes. Tomorrow, it might be a whole new trajectory. With Home Bound catching the world’s attention, and a massive Telugu project alongside Ram Charan on the way, Janhvi might just be stepping into a chapter where her stardom is no longer debated—it’s defined.
