Actors venturing into politics and adding a feather to their cap is not new in the country. The list of the actors who took the path is quite long. However, most actors do that, and very rarely do we see actresses shining in both fields. A Bollywood actress is on the rare list.

Jaya Bachchan, a serving MP was a popular actress earlier and she starred in critically acclaimed films in strong characters. She is an outspoken person and won't shy away from speaking her heart out. Going by the same she objected to the way she was addressed in the House.

Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Harivansh Narayan Singh addressed Jaya Bachchan as Jaya Amitabh Bachchan. However, she did not like that and opined that women have no own identity. Addressing a woman with her husband’s name is a new style.

When the Deputy Chairman called her Jaya Amitabh Bachchan, the Samajwadi Party leader objected to this and said that it would be enough had she been called Jaya Bachchan. To this, the Deputy Chairman said that it was written in the Affidavit.

The MP was not happy with the way she was addressed in the House and asked why she was addressed with her husband’s name. Her reaction went viral starting a big debate among netizens on the same.

Adding fuel to this, pictures which are said to be of election affidavits went viral on social media in which the MP’s name is mentioned as Jaya Amitabh Bachchan. While a section of people are supporting the MP on this, the other section says what’s wrong in this as she mentioned the same in her affidavit.

The 76-year-old MP tied the knot with Amitabh Bachchan in 1973. The couple has two children. She has been a Rajya Sabha member since 2004.
