Is Devara a Hit or a Flop? Here’s final clarity
Even today, people continue asking those connected with the film about its actual collections. Recently, producer and distributor Dheeraj Mogilineni, who distributed the film in a few areas, shared his experience in an interview.
Some movies finish their box office journey quickly, and everyone agrees whether they are a hit or a flop. But a few films continue to create debates even years after their release. Devara is one such movie.
When Devara was released, the makers announced that the film had collected more than ₹500 crore worldwide. However, many people questioned those numbers. Some also doubted the Hindi version collections. Since then, social media has been filled with discussions, with fans supporting the film and critics questioning its box office figures.
Even today, people continue asking those connected with the film about its actual collections. Recently, producer and distributor Dheeraj Mogilineni, who distributed the film in a few areas, shared his experience in an interview.
He did not reveal the movie's final worldwide collection. But he clearly said that Devara earned much more than what his team had expected in the areas they handled. According to him, the film performed very well and surprised the distributors with its strong collections.
Dheeraj said that many big films today slow down after the first week. But Devara continued to attract audiences even in its fourth week. He explained that this long run helped the film earn much better than expected.
He also spoke about the mixed talk that came after the midnight benefit shows. He believes that audiences watching movies late at night may not enjoy them in the best way because of tiredness and lack of sleep. He feels this could have affected the early response to the film.
Despite the mixed initial talk, the movie had houseful shows on its opening day in many theatres across the Telugu states. He also praised Jr NTR's fans for strongly supporting the film. According to him, family audiences also liked the movie, which helped it stay in theatres for a longer time.
Dheeraj claimed that the collections in the areas he distributed were around 50 percent higher than their original expectations. He credited both Jr NTR's popularity and the film's content for this success.
Even after all this time, Devara remains a film that continues to divide opinions. While some still question its box office numbers, others believe its long theatrical run proves that it was a successful film. The debate is still far from over.
