Whatever the official line may be, ground reality seems slightly different for Jr NTR’s Dragon, being directed by KGF maker Prashanth Neel. After Malayalam star Tovino Thomas walked out of the project, the team is now left with a crucial gap: the main antagonist. And this isn’t a role they can casually fill. Because when you have Jr NTR on one side, the other side needs equal weight.
Currently, the makers have publicly maintained that the current break in shooting is just a “normal schedule gap.” Nothing unusual, nothing to worry about. But the inside talk says otherwise. The film has hit a pause primarily because the team is yet to lock the villain. Until that piece falls into place, moving ahead with major schedules becomes tricky, especially for a film that seems heavily dependent on confrontation and character dynamics. Interestingly, the team is said to be exploring options from recent big-ticket films, particularly actors who gained attention with Dhurandhar.
Prashanth Neel’s films usually thrive on powerful face-offs. The hero elevation works only when the antagonist stands tall. Miss that balance, and the entire impact drops. That’s the reason the makers are looking for a powerful villain who could bring that intensity and versatility to the role. Currently, they are said to be feeling that delaying a schedule is better than locking the wrong face. Once the villain is locked, things should move fast for Dragon, which is currently in waiting mode.
