Why Are There Zero Midnight Shows For 'Kalki 2898 AD'?
Whether it is in India or abroad, the movie is smashing records left right and center even before its release.
With big names like Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and others playing the main characters, 'Kalki 2898 AD' is arriving on 27th July. The hype on this movie is unbelievable and the pre-release ticket sales are fantastic, to say the least. Whether it is in India or abroad, the movie is smashing records left right and center even before its release.
While the ticket rates were hiked and special permissions were given in both Telugu states, the team did not ask for midnight shows. Fans were quite disappointed with that and the very first show in India will start after 4 AM. When asked about the reason behind this decision, sources said that they didn't want negativity to spread unnecessarily.
People who attend these midnight shows are mostly youth who expect mass scenes, audiences who post reviews on Twitter and people who come in drunk to enjoy. 'Kalki 2898 AD' is not such a film where you cheer and whistle for every scene. People need to understand the film and watch all the details carefully. Viewers with a lack of focus on the details will do more harm to the film. That is why the makers opted for early morning shows where people can watch it with fresh minds.
We saw 'Guntur Karam' getting severely affected by midnight shows and even a movie like 'Baahubali' received negative feedback from the people who watched it at midnight. The makers do not want to take that risk. However, it is quite clear that nothing can stop success if there is strong content. But it is good to be safe for a film like 'Kalki 2898 AD' which is not a regular commercial flick.
