"No Gender Is Safe in Tollywood"

Actress Kamakshi Bhaskarla has spoken openly about some serious problems that exist in the film industry. During a recent podcast, she discussed casting couch, exploitation and the way the word “commitment” is sometimes used in the wrong manner in Tollywood.

Kamakshi said that the film industry attracts many people who want to become producers because they see cinema as a business. However, not everyone who enters production has a real understanding of filmmaking. Some may mainly look at movies as an investment opportunity.

According to Kamakshi, problems can arise when people with money and influence use their position in the wrong way. She explained that some people may offer acting opportunities but later expect something personal in return.

She pointed to the way the word “commitment” is sometimes used in such situations. She said some people may indirectly ask actresses for personal favors after offering them work. Describing this attitude, Kamakshi said, “Inkenti… Inkenti mari? What else?”

Her comments have once again brought attention to the difficult side of the entertainment industry. New actors and actresses often depend on opportunities to build their careers. Because of this, people with power can sometimes put them in uncomfortable situations.

Kamakshi also made an important point that such exploitation should not be seen as an issue affecting only women. According to her, people from different genders can face manipulation and harassment when there is a major difference in power.

She strongly summed up her view by saying, “No gender is safe here, everybody in the industry is screwed.”

Her statement has attracted attention because it highlights a wider problem rather than focusing on only one section of the industry. The film industry is a place where talent, money, fame and influence often work together. When power is misused, newcomers can find it difficult to protect their personal boundaries.
