Thug Life On OTT: Not Immediately, But Which Platform?

It is already known that Tamil cinema legends, Kamal Haasan, and Mani Ratnam have come together for the latest film Thug Life which released in theatres today, amidst decent expectations from the Tamil audience.

The latest discussion about this film is that it is premiering on its official OTT streaming partner, Netflix, several weeks after the theatrical release.

It is being reported that the multi OTT rights of this film have been acquired by Netflix for a substantial amount of money as the OTT platform is confident about the reach that it could potentially generate.

The very combination of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam must have generated substantial business for this film, and the same can be understood from the mega deal Netflix deal that is in place for the same.

This film will reportedly stream in Tamil Telugu Kannada Malayalam and Hindi languages on Netflix after the OTT debut.

However, the point that must be noted here is that the film has an elongated theatrical agreement that is in place, which would mean that it will run for at least eight weeks in theatres before it arrives on OTT. So the OTT release is fairly away from now.
