There is no debating the fact that Tamil star Surya’s recent film Kanguva is one of the most trolled products from Indian cinema in recent years. This film was absolutely lambasted by critics and common audience alike. It was a mega disaster at the box office and was also brutally trolled on social media after its OTT release.

But it appears that the makers of this period action film did not learn a lesson from the insane trolling that happened. They have now somehow packed the courage to send the film to the Oscars.

As per the latest reports, Kanguva has been nominated to the Oscars upon the paid campaign that has been set up by the makers of this film. The film is now officially entering the Oscar race, and it will be from India. It is one of the 323 films globally that have been sent for the Oscar nominations.

Nominating, a content driven film or a box. Office hit like RRR for the Oscars is one thing. But the fact that the makers of this brutally trolled Kanguva gathered the courage to send the film to the Oscars is a matter of concern as this could lead to further trolling and shaming on social media.

Earlier, RRR made all of Indian cinema, proud by winning the Oscar in the best song category. This appears to have inspired the makers of Surya film to go for Oscars themselves, but it appears that there is very little credence in this narrative now.
