KJo's Romantic Drama Fails To Hit The Bull's Eye!
But the collections are not that great as the movie minted only 11+ crores on the first day at the Indian box office.
Bollywood's elite filmmaker Karan Johar has held the megaphone after a gap of 7 years for 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani' which arrived in theatres on Friday. Movies which were directed by Karan Johar are renowned for grandeur, emotions and a lot of drama. He made some iconic Bollywood films like 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hain', 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham' and 'My Name Is Khan'. Even his sub-par films like 'Student Of The Year', 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' and 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' have gotten good collections.
But his recent outing featuring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles failed to create the same magic at the box office. The songs did not generate a lot of hype and the trailer made it clear that the movie is going to be a modified version of 'Bommarillu'. The hero and heroine both swap families for a month in this Bollywood flick. As expected, the movie had a great-looking cast, grand sets, good emotions and loads of drama. All the critics gave thumbs up to the film with either 3 or 4 stars.
But the collections are not that great as the movie minted only 11+ crores on the first day at the Indian box office. At a time when top South Indian movies are earning 20+ crores on the first day in the hinterlands of North these days, a high-budget Hindi flick featuring top stars and directed by a top director earning this low is shocking everyone. Ranveer's recent track record might have played a key role in these figures. However, we need to see how the movie performs with a positive talk in the new few days.
