Like a spark waiting to turn into a flame, young filmmaker Keerthiswaran is stepping into the spotlight with Dude. The film stars Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju and is produced by Mythri Movie Makers. Set to release this Deepavali, the movie’s first song Singari has already created buzz. But what grabbed everyone’s attention is the director’s surprising reveal, Dude has a strong connection to Superstar Rajinikanth.
Keerthiswaran said that through cinematographer Niketh Bommi, he got a chance to narrate the story to the Mythri team. They loved it and immediately gave him the green light to start shooting. He added that he wrote the story keeping Rajinikanth’s 30-year-old image in mind, his energy, his attitude, his fire. “I wanted to bring that same spark back on screen. Pradeep Ranganathan fit that vision perfectly,” the director said. Though the film is mainly a love story, it also carries moments of mass appeal and emotion. For Keerthiswaran, seeing his first film hit screens during Diwali feels like a dream coming true.
Mamitha Baiju was chosen for the female lead even before her Malayalam film Super Saranya released. Keerthiswaran said he was impressed by her freshness and screen presence. “When she came on board, I felt like watching a young Rajinikanth and Sridevi pair again,” he shared. The film also features Sharath Kumar, Rohini, and Paridapangal fame David in important roles. Music is by Sai Abhyankar, who brings a youthful and vibrant sound to the film.
Dude isn’t trying to be just another romantic comedy. It’s a mix of fun, love, and attitude, a story that salutes old-school energy while speaking to today’s generation. With Rajini-style charisma, catchy music, and a Diwali release, Keerthiswaran’s debut might just surprise everyone. It’s not about following a formula, it’s about bringing back that spark of cinema we’ve been missing.
