These days, the censor process for sure has become one of the most discussed topics in the film industry. Whenever a movie gets a U, U/A or A certificate, it immediately becomes a talking point. But the big question is does a censor certificate really make a difference to a movie’s result?

Recently many filmmakers and actors have been speaking about censor issues. Now, Comrade Kalyan has also brought the topic into the discussion. The Sree Vishnu starrer received a U/A certificate from the censor authorities and is getting ready for its theatrical release.

At the Comrade Kalyan event, Kona Venkat made strong comments about the censor process. He said that the censor authorities can decide whether a film should get a U or A certificate, but he questioned their right to ask filmmakers to remove particular scenes.

But does a censor certificate really decide the success of a movie? The answer is not always yes. A film with a U certificate can fail, while a movie with a U/A or even A certificate can become a superhit or blockbuster. The audience mainly looks at the content, story, performances and entertainment. If the movie connects with viewers, the certificate alone cannot stop its success.

There are many examples where films with adult certificates performed very well at the box office. At the same time, several films with family-friendly certificates did not perform as expected.

Kona Venkat also spoke about the OTT business. He said that OTT platforms do not simply acquire a movie because a big hero is part of it. They watch the complete film and then make a decision.

Comrade Kalyan has already received a U/A certificate. The film promises comedy, romance and action, along with a serious period backdrop. Sree Vishnu and Mahima Nambiar play the lead roles.

Directed by Janakiram Marella and presented by Kona Venkat, Comrade Kalyan releases on October 9, 2026.

Meanwhile it is for sure that OTT and censor certificates are becoming major talking points for producers as well as Tollywood audience in recent times. Now we have to wait and see how censor is going to effect this film.
