Krithi Shetty Shares Secrets Behind Uppena Film Selection

Krithi Shetty is currently juggling promotions for her Tamil film LIK with Pradeep Ranganathan, directed by Vignesh Shivan. Two songs from the film are out already, people say they’re “okay-okay,” nothing too crazy, but the buzz is slowly building. While talking about this movie, Krithi suddenly slipped into a small throwback and spoke about Uppena, her Telugu debut that pretty much launched her into fame overnight.

She shared a funny little story about how she actually landed the role. “I had gone to audition for a commercial. My dad said he’d pick me up after I finish, but he got late. So I just wandered into the next studio where another audition was happening. They saw me, asked if I was interested in films. I didn’t know what to say, so I just gave my mom’s number. Later they called her, and turns out it was for Uppena. That’s how it happened,” she said. The film starred Panja Vaisshnav Tej and Vijay Sethupathi and turned into a massive hit.

Even though Krithi started with such a big success, the ride after that hasn’t been smooth. She also has another Tamil film, Vaa Vaathiyaar with Karthi, releasing in Telugu as Annagaru Vastaru. The teaser is again “okay-okay,” so let’s see if these two films finally put her back in the race.
