'Laapataa Ladies' – The Official Entry From India To Oscars!

Directed by Aamir Khan's ex-wife Kiran Rao, it is an award-winning film which had its screening in the Toronto Film Festival last year.

Amidst a lot of contention from films like 'Thangalaan', 'Kalki 2898 AD', 'Mangalavaaram', 'Chandu Champion' and many more, the Film Federation Of India selected 'Laapataa Ladies' as India's official entry to the Oscars 2025. The announcement was made on Monday and FFI's Chairman Jahnu Barua shared the news.

Directed by Aamir Khan's ex-wife Kiran Rao, it is an award-winning film which had its screening in the Toronto Film Festival last year. The original story is given by Biplab Goswami while Sneha Desai penned the dialogues while 'Divyanidhi Sharma' wrote the additional dialogues. Produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao and Jyothi Deshpande, this film is streaming on Netflix.

Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Chhaya Kadam, Ravi Kishan and others are the cast members of this film. The movie got positive reviews from every critic and the jury of 13 members selected this year from a list of 12 Hindi films, 6 Tamil films and 4 Malayalam films.

Kiran Rao said, “My dream would be fulfilled if it was, if it would go (to Oscars). But it's a process, and I'm hoping it'll (Laapataa Ladies) be considered. I'm sure the best film will go, whoever they choose in the scheme of things.”
