Unexpected: Mad Square Slips To 3rd Place, How and Why?

When it was announced that multiple films would be releasing in theatres towards the end of March, it was expected that Mad Square would be the most anticipated film when compared to Robin Hood and L2E Empuraan.

Being a sequel for a superhit comedy film with a similar set up, everyone expected Mad Square to be leading the chart in terms of hype and anticipation. However, it turned out to be that this film has slipped to 3rd position in terms of the social media, hype and anticipation amongst the three films that are releasing this weekend.

Thanks to aggressive promotions and the presence of international cricketer David Warner followed by a trailer Robin Hood jumped to 1st place and it is the most anticipated film amongst this weekend releases. The presence of Nithiin and Sree Leela has also worked wonderfully for this commercial entertainer.

On the other hand, we have the sequel for Lucifer, which is a mainstream Malayalam film featuring Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles. The makers put a positive effort to promote the film extensively in Telugu and held multiple interviews as well. This has also worked the trick for the film and miraculously jumped to 2nd position in terms of hype and anticipation.

On the other hand, Mad Square, which was expected to be the first film in terms of hype could not generate adequate momentum as the days passed by, and eventually slipped to 3rd position.

As things stand, it is Robin Hood, which is the most anticipated film followed by Empuraan, and we have Mad Square at last.
