Superstar Mahesh Babu is not being seen in theatres for a while now. Guntur Kaaram came in Sankranthi 2024. After that, full focus shifted to one film, which happens to be legendary director SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi. As the film is set for a 2027 release, surely Mahesh will be free after that, and if the film clicks big time, Mahesh will enter a completely different league globally. Insiders say that he already has a plan ready for his post-Varanasi career.

The idea is simple: there will be no long gaps, but only back-to-back films after Varanasi. He wants to produce three films over the next three years. Coming to production houses, Mythri Movie Makers is almost set for the next one. Suniel Narang from Asian Banner is also in discussions for another project. Budget won’t be an issue, and Mahesh’s remuneration will be sky-high. Though everything looks set, there’s one real problem that’s worrying the star hero right now.

Where are the directors, the big-shot ones, for him, when almost every top director is locked up? Prashanth Neel is busy with multiple big films. Sandeep Reddy Vanga has a packed lineup. Atlee is tied up with back-to-back projects. Sukumar is also occupied for the next few years. These are the names that can match Mahesh’s current scale. But none of them are available. So now the question becomes simple. Will Mahesh wait for the right director? Or move ahead with someone unexpected?

Because post-Varanasi, expectations won’t be normal. Every film has to match that scale, and range. Producers can line up anytime. But without the right director, the plan slows down. Let’s see what Mahesh will do.
