Bollywood starlet Malaika Arora is always popular for her fitness even after she turned 50 years old, and her linkups with younger men after her divorce from Arbaz Khan. Otherwise, she’s known for her item songs from Cheyya Cheyya in Dil Se, Munni Badnam Hui and Anarkali Disco Chali, to last year's Poison Baby in Rashimika Mandanna’s Thamma movie. Here’s what she says about them.

With Malaika doing an item number at the age of 50, splashing her glamorous looks all over the screen, a section of the audience has criticised her big time. Especially last year, she came up with a spicy treat in Yo Yo Honey Singh’s Chillgum song and then Poison Baby song, thus enabling more criticism. Reacting to the same, Malaika stated that she won’t apologise for starring in item numbers irrespective of her age.

The actress and model apparently said, “Why should I tone down myself in item songs or be apologetic about it? You get trolled for things, but I don’t understand what the big deal is. Dance is expression, and I feel empowered to do item songs, and feel blessed for doing this at the age of 52”. Malaika feels that she’s doing something right for sure.

At the moment, Malaika feels that self-belief matters more than public opinion and wouldn’t care an iota for trolls.
