Mallu actress Mamitha Baiju has become a sensation at the Telugu box office after her film “Premalu” worked out big time here. But somehow, she hasn’t received the same attention at the Tamil box office, even though she debuted with the film Rebel and has done films like Pradeep Ranganathan’s Dude, Dhanush’s Kara, and Vijay’s Jana Nayagan. Here’s how her fortune has changed now.

Though Dude worked well at the box office, Mamitha didn’t enjoy the attention, but then her portrayal as Vijay’s daughter in Jana Nayagan got criticised big time. Many even questioned her acting abilities and branded her an overrated actress. However, the success of Suriya’s Viswanathan & Sons has now changed her fortunes. The film’s good run and the way she carried herself in the movie are being talked about.

Reportedly, many Tamil critics praised Mamitha Baiju for her tremendous performance in the movie. They hailed her role, but then slammed the director for cutting her role short in the second half before bringing her back for the climax. This elevation from the critics and the audience will surely get more Tamil films for Mamitha in the coming days. However, many are wondering why she is not signing Telugu films aggressively?

Some say that Mamitha doesn’t want to become another Keerthy Suresh or Anupama Parameswaran who signed many Telugu films but, in the end, lost the market of Malayalam and Tamil movies.
