One of the biggest strengths of the upcoming “Ramayana” is the presence of Oscar winners Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman for the music department. However, a recent song from the film, has got that peculiar Qawwali and Sufi touch, which is now being criticised for the choice, because Ramayana is a Hindu scripture related to crores of people. Here comes Adipurush

At a time when the song Mangal Rang, composed by AR Rahman, is getting criticised for the Sufi tones all over, Manoj Muntashir, who wrote Adipurush songs, has commented, “I didn’t write any nursery rhymes or qawwalis for Adipurush”. And earlier he stated that the songs written and composed for Adipurush are so popular that they are the ones even being played at Ayodhya as well now, he remarked. Of course, that’s true.

Despite the presence of stalwarts like Rahman and also Hans Zimmer, somehow Ramayana movie songs are not getting as much attention as Adipurush songs got. All the songs scored by Ajay-Atul and Sachet-Parampara for Adipurush got pretty crazy by the time of release, despite being devotional. Somehow director Nitish Tiwari should have focused well on the songs part, some say.

That said, Rahman’s sufi-like tunes, Sai Pallavi’s 'Ravana is not all bad' comments are now turning against the film like a wildfire, but then, they might get good openings for the film too.
