A lot of comedians are becoming main leads these days and it is the turn of 'Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi' fame Abhinav Gomatam now. He arrived this weekend with 'Masthu Shades Unnai Ra' as a lead actor. Tirupati Rao directed this movie while Tharun Bhascker did a guest role. Varun Tej and Nikhil promoted this movie which grabbed the attention of the public. The movie released with a decent buzz and let us see how this film turned out. Did Abhinav impress as a hero in his first attempt? Here is the public talk…
Coming to the story, Manohar (Abhinav) is a youngster with a lot of bad luck since childhood. He followed his father's footsteps and became a painter. A lot of people look down on him. Even the girl who is about to marry him elopes with her love as she doesn't like Manohar's work. Manohar decides to settle in life one way or the other. He wants to setup a flex designing shop. What happens after that? Did Manohar succeed? How did his love story with Uma Devi turn out? What is his rivalry with Rahul (Ali Reza)? Did his career take a turn? Answers to these questions form the rest of the story.
'Masthu Shades Unnai Ra' has a simple story. It is about a guy who wants to succeed in life by setting up a flex printing press. He hopes that it might bring him respect in the society and he may get married. His struggles for self-respect becomes the main point of the movie. This is not the kind of story to debut as a hero and it is not an out-and-out comedy film either. It is a concept-based movie that decided to tell a good point with decent entertainment.
The movie starts off with lighter emotions and proceeds in a routine manner. Hero wanting to set up his own shop, learning Photoshop and meeting heroine at that place are narrated in a regular fashion. The entire first half is filled with such scenes. The twist before the interval creates interest in the second half. The way in which the latter half is dealt impresses you. The fun scenes too impress the audience. But the logics go for a toss during these parts. But the curiosity increases by the time of pre-climax and the climax is also quite interesting.
Abhivan did a good job as Manohar. He did the emotional scenes amazingly but his mark of comedy is missing in this movie. Vaishal Raj is cute as the heroine. Ali Reza as the character with a negative touch and the hero's friend Moeen did a fine job. The rest of the actors did well too. Sid Sriram's song under Sanjeev's composition impresses you. Tirupati Rao picks up a relatable story which is a bit weak but his taking makes him score points. The talk from the public suggests that 'Masthu Shades Unnai Ra' is a time-pass movie.
