Mayasabha Teaser: Another Haunting Tale After Tumbbad!

It is already known that Bollywood has this pretty strong grasp when it comes to making atmospheric horror films that deliver a spine chilling experience to the audience. Now they appear to be back on the job with their upcoming film, MayaSabha.

Rahi Anil Barve, the director who made a mark with Tumbbad returns after many years with this new film. Mayasabha stars Jaaved Jaaferi in the lead role.

Though the film was completed some time ago, it remained unreleased until now. The makers recently unveiled a motion poster and announced that Mayasabha will hit theaters on January 16, 2026.

The film promises a dark, atmospheric and mysterious experience. In his announcement the director hinted at a story involving obsession, trauma and psychological horror.

Jaaferi plays a film-producer who, after personal tragedy and betrayal, ends up living alone in an abandoned theatre. Haunted by the past and raising a disturbed teenager, his world takes a sinister turn when two strangers appear, setting off a chain of eerie and unsettling events.

With its tone of suspense, symbolic imagery and Barve’s signature cinematic style, Mayasabha is shaping up as one of the more intriguing and ambitious releases of early 2026.
