A lot of people were not happy when Megastar Chiranjeevi announced that he will do a remake with Meher Ramesh as the director. When it has been confirmed that 'Bholaa Shankar' is the remake of 'Vedhalam', they were completely disappointed. Though it was a hit movie, the Ajith-starrer was released back in 2015.

Remaking it after 8 years did not look like a good option and many claim that the story of 'Vedhalam' is highly inspired by NTR's 'Ooseravelli'. People state that the Tamil makers replaced the hero-heroine flashback and replaced it with a brother-sister thread which was the only change. Remaking such a movie in Telugu with Megastar as the lead was not liked by the movie lovers.

But Meher Ramesh explains the reason behind remaking 'Vedhalam', he says, "Even though there is a lot of advancement that has been happening around us, the sentiments and emotions remain the same. Brother-sister bond is the main reason we chose to remake Vedhalam. Also, the film talks about women's trafficking. We took the core point of Vedhalam and made many changes for Bholaa Shankar."

Tamannaah is the heroine while Keerthy Suresh will be seen as Megastar's sister in the movie. The rest of the cast includes Sushanth, Raghu Babu, Murali Sharma, Ravi Shankar, Vennela Kishore, Tulasi, Sureka Vani, Sreemukhi, Hyper Adhi, Viva Harsha, Pradeep, Anee, Bithiri Sathi, Satya, Getup Srinu, Venu Tillu, Thagubotu ramesh, Rashmi Gautam, Uttej, Veer, Shahwar Ali &Tarun Arora. Dudley is handling the cinematography. Anil Sunkara produced this movie.
