Mohanlal Prays For Mammootty In Sabiramala: What’s The Controversy?

Malayalam superstar, Mohanlal was recently spotted at the world famous Sabarimala Temple last week. He offered his prayers at the Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple as he was seen in a full on devotional mode.

Incidentally, it was later established that Mohanlal had visited the famous Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple to pray for the well-being and quick medical recovery of his friend, Mammootty.

This led to a controversy after a social media influencer named Abdullah took offence to Mohanlal, praying for Mammootty at the Ayyappa Temple in Sabarimala.

The argument made by the social media influencer is that it wasn’t right on the part of Hindu individual Mohanlal to pray for the well-being of his Muslim friend Mammootty at the Holi Hindu Temple of Sabarimala. This quickly became a heated controversy in Malayalam, and there were several polar reactions to the same.

But what is to be noted here is that God and the concept of worship is largely unified. Questioning and criticising Mohanlal for praying for his Muslim friend, Mammootty in Sabarimala simply does not make any logical sense.

The larger consensus on social media is that there is nothing wrong in Hindu Mohanlal praying for the well-being of his Muslim friend Mammootty in Sabarimala. We usually see cases of even Hindu community going to Muslim Dargah to pray for well-being and return from illness.

For now, this is a sensitive topic that cannot draw much of a social commentary, but at a logical level, that doesn’t appear to be something too wrong with it.
