Film Releases Moving Away From Friday Weekend Strategy!

Update: 2024-04-27 07:47 GMT

Every South Indian movie is expected to hit the screens on the weekend. It is usually on Friday as it is the start of the weekend. The collections are guaranteed on the first day and it will be followed up by Saturday and Sunday which makes it easy for the filmmakers to make more money. During the weekends, families too turn up at theatres and it has been the norm that has been going on for years.

But it looks like this pattern is going to end in no time. A lot of pan-Indian films that are going to be released this year are not arriving on Friday. Most of them are moving a day ahead and releasing their films on Thursday. Many are claiming that Friday releases will soon fade out if things trend goes on. Shankar's magnum opus social drama 'Indian 2' is releasing on 13th June in five languages. 13th June is Thursday.

Even 'Kalki 2898 AD' is arriving on 27th June worldwide and it is Thursday. As we know, Prabhas starrer science fiction film will be released in 22 languages. Icon Star Allu Arjun's 'Pushpa 2' is hitting the screens on 15th August and it turns out to be Thursday as well. It is one of the most awaited projects in the country. On August 29th which is a Thursday, Nani's 'Saripodhaa Sanivaaram' is getting released.

On 10th October, the first part of 'Devara' is going to come out and it is also a Thursday. It looks like all the pan-Indian releases are arriving a day earlier than the regular weekend. This will increase the collections and we need to see if it is limited to pan-Indian films or will it apply to other movies as well.
