Ever since the news of Geetha Arts producing a biopic of a legendary Tamil singer and Bharat Ratna awardee MS Subbulakshmi has come out, many are wondering if the Tamil connect in the film will be missed. Because she happens to be Tamilian, a Kannada actress Rashmika Mandanna, is roped in to play the lead, while Telugu makers, including director Gowtham Tinnanuri and producer Allu Arvind, are the crew of the movie.

Naturally, when such things happen, the Tamil audience usually disconnects from the film as they don’t like someone else playing the lead in their own native’s biopic and someone else directing it. To reduce that gap, the makers of the Subbulakshmi biopic are launching the film in Chennai tomorrow (September 16th) in the presence of Kamal Haasan. The film will be grandly launched, and the message will be loud and clear that Tamil roots and connections in the film will not be ignored, though the film is happening from a Hyderabad base. Of course, with Anirudh composing the music, surely it gets the needed Tamil flavour without missing.

On the other hand, the film will be primarily shot in Telugu and Tamil, if reports are to be believed, but then, it should not evoke a feeling like a dubbed film for either of the languages. On the other hand, after a long time, Geetha Arts is kickstarting a big film, so naturally Telugu folks are pretty much excited.
