JetLee Telangana Issue: Acting Legends Want To Stay Away?

Satya’s JetLee movie, produced by Mythri Movie Makers, is being cornered by other distributors of the Telangana region in a big way. While they are having issues with single-screens already, now they have blocked the movie’s release in multiplexes too, which is just a showcase of monopoly, but nothing else.

The main issues arise with both production houses and distribution companies, and theatres owned by the same people. Those who are demanding 60% share in the movie’s ticket sales from the first week are the ones who are actually producing films too. That sounds unethical, doesn’t it?

In the whole fiasco, while production houses are directly trading accusations on social media, what are the big acting legends of Tollywood doing? Inside talk is that some senior stars, who are likely to play a bigwig role, are actually not showcasing interest in this issue. Well, this is because the top production houses of Tollywood have now ventured into distribution and owning of theatres, playing three roles. So these types of rules, which are being laid from the ‘distribution’ side, are only to suppress other competitors in the industry.

However, big heroes, the so-called acting legends, are not stepping into the issue because they have films with all three production houses, which are waging war on each other now. If they take the side of one particular production house, that’s likely to frustrate the other one. For their own benefit, the stars are not poking their heads into this issue, they say. Some of the theatres in the issues are also owned by these stars, though operated by another partner.

For the sake of power over a film produced by others as well, it looks like some big producers who are unable to produce hit films are trying to eat away at the pockets of others.
