When most production houses shy away from box office clashes, Mythri Movie Makers decided to take the road less traveled — and it's paid off in style. On April 10, the studio pulled off a bold move by releasing Jaat, a Hindi action drama starring Sunny Deol and Regina Cassandra, and Good Bad Ugly, a Tamil mass entertainer headlined by Ajith Kumar and Trisha, on the same day.
While producers usually prefer exclusive dates to maximize reach, Mythri's confidence in content proved right. Good Bad Ugly, directed by Adhik Ravichandran, roared at the box office with a 4-day worldwide gross of Rs 152 crore (tentative), making it one of Ajith’s fastest earners. On the other hand, Jaat, helmed by Gopichand Malineni, held its own with a solid Rs 50 crore worldwide gross in the same timeframe.
Releasing two high-profile films on the same date, in different languages and markets, is no easy feat — logistically or commercially. But Mythri’s strategy of targeting different regions with strong star power worked wonders, showing that smart planning can rewrite conventional release rules.
With both films raking in impressive numbers, Mythri Movie Makers has not just broken records — they’ve set a new benchmark for fearless, pan-India storytelling. Looks like April 10 will be remembered as more than just a holiday release—it was a masterclass in daring distribution.
