The sequel to the blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD is one of the most awaited movies in Tollywood. The first film which grossed over ₹1,000 crores left fans excited for its continuation. Producer Ashwini Dutt had earlier mentioned that Kalki 2 would begin shooting in the summer. However, with no updates fans are confused about the film's progress. Adding to this uncertainty, Prabhas is currently busy with other projects like The Raja Saab, Fauji and Spirit.
Director Nag Ashwin recently addressed the media at the re-release press meet of Yevade Subramanyam marking its 10th anniversary. During the event, he faced several questions about Kalki 2. He admitted that even he didn’t have complete clarity about the film’s timeline but hinted that preparations were underway. He suggested that the movie might start shooting by the end of the year. He also revealed that the sequel would focus more on the characters of Bhairava and Kalki.
Despite these updates, there is still no clarity on Prabhas’s shooting schedule or the movie’s release date. Given Prabhas’s packed commitments, it wouldn’t be surprising if Kalki 2 takes another two to three years to release. Meanwhile there are also speculations about Salaar 2 further complicating the timeline for Kalki 2.
One confirmed detail is that Kalki 2 will have a much bigger budget than the first film. Fans are curious whether Vijay Deverakonda will get a more significant role or if Prabhas will have more screen time this time. For now everything remains a mystery.
