According to Vamsi, this trend of giving a “sympathy card” break to certain films has become noticeable, where audiences and media respond more to personal struggles than the actual work.

Vamsi shared a video from a podcast where Chaitu Jonnalagadda talked about this very issue, and used it to highlight his own concern that films are sometimes supported not for their quality but because people feel sorry for the team behind them.

He pointed out that when someone speaks confidently, it is often labeled as attitude, while emotional appeals draw sympathy that helps films get a positive response. Vamsi insists he simply expresses his views openly and feels targeted when others do the same, yet others get positive reactions because of sympathy rather than merit. He wants audiences and the industry to focus on the real strengths of a film instead of emotional narratives.
