Film Postponements: Naga Vamsi Is Culprit?

Recently, star hero Nagarjuna Akkineni has openly told Naga Vamsi and other producers and technicians that people in the film industry should think about fixing the issue of release dates. He stated that when Hollywood biggies like ‘The Odyssey’ could lock in release dates a year in advance and hit the theatres as planned, why can’t Tollywood follow the same if technicians do their job correctly? Naga Vamsi, however, shared a stunning opinion on this.

Naga Vamsi stated that the ‘era’ of postponements in Tollywood was started by him only and proudly claimed that he is the culprit. “I can proudly say that I’ve never stuck to the idea of releasing the film on a locked date. Never have my films come on the date that was first announced. Even if the film is not ready, we will announce the date, and we will change it later,” said Vamsi. However, he added that the course-correction is happening now because OTT platforms are tightening the noose.

“In a year, they are buying 2-3 films from us, and if films miss out on release dates, their money and slots are getting wasted. So, they are also forcing us to stick to timelines now,” he further added. However, locking dates and missing out is not the case; the case is, why are we not able to lock a date and stick to it?
