Nagarjuna's 100th Film: De-Aging Attempt, Will It Work?
In fact, De-ageing technology might sound exciting, but it hasn’t really worked well in Telugu films so far.;
The latest buzz around Nagarjuna’s 100th film is quite interesting. An update has come out that it will be a proper commercial entertainer with a strong father-daughter emotional track. At the same time, one more detail is catching attention. The makers are planning to use de-ageing technology, where Nagarjuna will be seen in different age phases, reportedly as a guy in his 20s, like how he appeared in the Shiva movie.
In fact, De-ageing technology might sound exciting, but it hasn’t really worked well in Telugu films so far. Earlier, Megastar Chiranjeevi used a similar approach in Acharya, and the result didn’t get the expected response. Even a star like Aamir Khan faced criticism when he tried such a young look through this tech on the screen for Laal Singh Chaddha. Tamil hero Suriya also got trolled heavily as the visuals looked awkward and unnatural. So this is not something new, but many have tried, and the results were not convincing.
So naturally, the question is, can Nagarjuna make it work? Though he has amazing technical support from his own Annapurna Studios, we have to see how much it would work. It’s coming out that the film has a father-daughter story, along with a rags-to-riches journey. That means the film is not just about visuals, but also about content. So, if the de-ageing part looks artificial, all that emotion might not connect well.
On the other hand, Nagarjuna hasn’t made his 100th film official yet. The film is being directed by Ra Karthik of Netflix's Made In Korea movie fame. It has Tabu, Aishwarya Rajesh and Kannada actress Sushmitha Bhatta playing other roles.
