Success in cinema can often feel like alchemy, where the right blend of elements creates a formula that resonates with audiences worldwide. Nagarjuna, who is gearing up for his next film Kuberaa under the direction of Shekhar Kammula, starring alongside Dhanush and Rashmika Mandanna, recently shared his insights on what makes films like Baahubali and Pushpa so universally loved.
During his appearance at the WAVES summit, Nagarjuna spoke candidly about the magic behind these blockbuster hits: “The ‘Pushpa’ series has done better in other languages than in Telugu. Almost ninety out of a hundred people love the larger-than-life characters like Pushparaj (Allu Arjun in ‘Pushpa’), Rakhi Bhai (Yash in ‘KGF’), and Baahubali (Prabhas in ‘Baahubali’). It’s not just the elevation of the heroes; it’s the strong stories that made these films massive successes.” He emphasized that even though Baahubali was a Telugu film, Rajamouli’s vision made it a global phenomenon.
The second day of the WAVES summit, held at the Jio World Center in Mumbai, saw a great turnout of national and international film personalities, directors, producers, and aspiring filmmakers. The event continued to foster insightful discussions and collaborations in the world of cinema.
Looking ahead, with stars like Nagarjuna always pushing the boundaries, the future of Indian cinema might just see more stories that break cultural and linguistic barriers—ushering in a new wave of universally loved blockbusters.
