'Kalki 2898 AD' turned out to be a blockbuster and it crossed the 1000 crore mark recently. The successful run of this gigantic film continues as it is getting more than the recently released pan-Indian film 'Indian 2'. The reception from the audience is great even though it is in the third week of its release. It grossed over 250 crores in the Hindi market as well.
Coming to the overseas collection, the film got over 17 million dollars and broke all the existing non-Baahubali records. It is the second-highest collecting film in Telugu and Nag Ashwin who brought such a crazy idea to life and wowed the audience is receiving a lot of applause. On the occasion of the film crossing the 1000 crore mark, Nag Ashwin came up with an Insta story which has now become the center of attention.
He wrote, “This milestone… this number… is obviously massive for a young team like ours… but the fact that we achieved it without blood, gore, obscenity, provocative or exploitative content, means so much… a big thank you to the audience and the actors who stood behind us. Indian Cinema #repatikosam.”
This went viral as people are considering it as a dig towards another young director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Whether it is 'Animal' or 'Arjun Reddy', Vanga's films have always drawn a lot of criticism. Especially, his last outing 'Animal' got huge collections but a lot of people bashed the violence and bloodshed shown in the film. The way he portrays women and shows masculinity have also created a lot of debate.
Nag Ashwin saying that they scored a blockbuster without blood, gore and obscenity is a direct counter to Vanga's film as per many netizens. People who liked 'Animal' defended it by saying that 'Kalki' has Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone as the lead cast while the budget is 4 times more than 'Animal'.
They said that Vanga's film has content, Ranbir, music and many more reasons for becoming a blockbuster while 'Kalki' had nothing but grandeur. As we know, 'Kalki' is Nag Ashwin's third film while 'Animal' is Vanga's third film too. They became huge names with their talent. Whether it is violence or fantasy, it is great for young Telugu filmmakers making such a huge name in Indian cinema.
