According to reports, Nana Patekar complained of severe chest pain. A medical team reached his flat after he became unconscious. CPR was given to him before he was taken to the hospital. But doctors could not save him. His son Malhar Patekar reportedly confirmed the news of his father's death.
Nana Patekar was known for films like Parinda, Krantiveer, Agni Sakshi and Welcome. His powerful acting and strong dialogue delivery made him a popular name in Bollywood. However, when it came to his personal life, Nana always preferred to stay away from the media.
Nana Patekar was born as Vishwanath Patekar in Murud-Janjira in Maharashtra. He came from a Marathi family and had seen financial difficulties during his childhood. His father, Dinakar Patekar, worked as a textile painter and was also involved in a small business. His mother, Sanjanabai Patekar, was a homemaker.
Nana Patekar was married to Neelakanti Patekar, who was associated with the Marathi film industry. She worked as an actress and producer. The two met through the film industry and later got married.
The couple had been living separately for several years. But they never publicly announced a divorce and their marriage continued legally.
Nana and Neelakanti had two sons. Their elder son Durvasa died at the age of two due to illness. Their younger son is Malhar Patekar.
Malhar has worked as an assistant director and has also shown interest in acting. Like his father, he prefers to stay away from too much media attention and keeps his personal life private.
