Even the most brilliant stars have their darkest nights, and for Nayanthara, that time was while Ghajini was being made. The Lady Superstar openly stated in her OTT show Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale that one of the most difficult times in her career was being body-shamed in the 2005 movie. "I don't mind if people criticize my acting, but body-shaming is not acceptable," she stated, highlighting the harsh realities of the entertainment business.

As a newcomer, Nayanthara remembered having little to no control over her on-screen persona. "I was doing precisely what my director, A.R. Murugadoss, asked me to do," she revealed. Since I had no say in the matter, I wore what he requested. Her bikini scene in the movie, which became a talking point for all the wrong reasons, was the source of the controversy. That scene was the focus of the entire drama. But I did it because I thought it was essential to the plot. It was just part of my job; it wasn't done to prove anything.

Nayanthara saw the experience as a turning point in spite of the criticism. Even though the role had its share of challenges, she feels it helped shape her career. "I thought that's how things evolve, right?" the actress clarified. In the end, it sort of worked for me. Although the film's plot revolved around a businessman who battled amnesia to exact revenge for the death of his fiancée, Nayanthara's journey reflected a tale of fortitude in the face of social criticism.

Nayanthara's thoughts serve as a reminder that even the strongest people have weak points, even as she continues to inspire millions. Looking back, one can only grin and reflect: if enduring a bikini controversy was her "lowest point," it's no surprise that she rose to the top with poise and perseverance.
