Nayanthara Leaves Her Silence & Pens An Apology!
Nayanthara has finally broken her silence on this issue and released a statement apologising for unintentionally hurting the religious sentiments.
Lady superstar Nayanthara released her 75th film 'Annapoorani' with the tagline 'The Goddess Of Food' was released in December. Top actors like Satyaraj, KS Ravikumar, Jai and others did key roles in this movie. It was released on Netflix within a few weeks back and a lot of Hindu organizations found the film's content problematic. The backlash was so heavy that the production company wrote an apology and removed the movie from the streaming platform.
Nayanthara has finally broken her silence on this issue and released a statement apologising for unintentionally hurting the religious sentiments. She said, “In our sincere attempt to share a positive message, we may have inadvertently caused hurt. We did not expect the removal of a censored film, previously showcased in theatres, from the OTT platform. My team and I never intended to hurt anyone's sentiments and we understand that the gravity of this issue. Being someone who wholely believes in God and frequently visits temples across the country, it is the last thing I would intentionally do. To those whose feelings we've touched, I extend my sincere and heartfelt apologies.”
She added, “The intention behind 'Annapoorni' was to uplift and inspire, not to cause distress Over the last two decades, my journey in the film industry has been guided with a singular intention - To spread positivity & foster learning from one another.”
Nayan played the role of a Brahmin girl who hails from an orthodox family. She wants to become India's best chef while her father is against it. How she overcomes all the hurdles and gets what she wants forms the crux of the story. Nayan is shown as a Brahmin woman who cooks non-vegetarian food in order to win the competition. A few Hindu organizations have complained that it hurt the sentiments of Brahmins. Also, a Muslim guy loving a Brahmin girl too did not go down well with many people.
