Nikhil’s Swayambhu: What Is Going Wrong?

After the super success of “Karthikeya 2”, many thought that hero Nikhil would capitalise on that by doing back-to-back movies. But then, he signed some big-budget epic movies like Swayambhu, which took more than 3 years to make, only to struggle more for a release.

Early this year, it was announced that Nikhil’s Swayambhu, which features Samyukhta Menon and Nabha Natesh as the leading ladies, is all set to hit on Feb 13th as a Maha Sivaratri treat. Later, they pushed the release to April 10th, and they have promoted the movie big time. But after the release of the trailer, which sounded more like another version of Baahubali, somehow the makers backed out of that date too.

Some say that pending visual effects are the reason behind the delay, while some say that a lucrative OTT deal is not coming their way; hence, they are unable to close the business and lock the release date. Whatever it may be, with multiple announcements and postponements, Swayambhu is slowly getting forgotten like Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara and other VFX films that got lost due to delays in post-production.

Later buzz has that they might lock September, but with a bunch of interesting movies like Toxic, Mirzapur, Jailer 2, The Paradise, Ramayana Part 1, and Fauzi locked for the rest of the year, and other mid-range movies like #AK47, Sardar 2, Sigma and others locking the rest of the dates, will Nikhi’s Swayambhu find the right date first?
