The Oscar awards that are held every year of the highest acclaimed film related awards anywhere in the world, and generally there is a lot of competition for the same. Since the epic success of RRR, several Indian films have also been pushing for the Oscars.
In the meanwhile, the Academy, which looks after the Oscars nomination and finalisation activities has made a crucial set of changes to the awards event.
It has been officially confirmed that a film can be nominated by itself, regardless of the referral made by the country of origin. For instance, India had sent a Gujarati film to the Oscars, which anyway did not have its way going back in 2024. This obstructed the path for RRR.
But according to the new regulations, a country can have multiple nominations for the Oscars and apart from that a film that has won any other major international award like the Grammy or Cannes can directly nominate itself. This is going to be great news for Rajamouli who missed out on the opportunity for RRR.
Now we have to see if Rajamouli would go extra miles for Varanasi to secure a place for this film in the Oscar nominations.
Apart from that, the Oscars will now restrict AI related content as none of the films that feature in AI content will be permitted to participate. It is further confirmed that an actor can have multiple nominations in the same year. This would mean that an actor can have to or born nominations in the same year of Oscars if he has delivered such performances in his/her films.
It is being for the established that the voting process is also going to be very straightforward from this year as the panel will have to watch all the nominated films and only then will be allowed to pick the best one.
