Padma Awards 2024: Chiranjeevi gets Padma Vibhushan; Here's the list of Other Awardees
Among the Padma Bhushan awardees are veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty and Foxconn chairman Young Liu
Megastar Chiranjeevi, Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, and actor Vyjayantimala Bali have received the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian honor, as announced by the Centre. Bindeshwar Pathak (posthumous) and Padma Subrahmanyam are also honored with the Padma Vibhushan.
The Centre unveiled the Padma awardees list ahead of Republic Day, categorizing them into Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri. This year, there are five Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan, and 110 Padma Shri recipients, with 30 being women.
Among the Padma Bhushan awardees are veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty and Foxconn chairman Young Liu. Usha Uthup, renowned as the Queen of pop music, and actor Vijaykanth are also honored.
Padma Bhushan recipients include veteran BJP leader Ram Naik, former Uttar Pradesh Governor, and Olanchery Rajagopal, ex-Rajya Sabha MP. Posthumous awardees in this category are late actor Vijayakant, M. Fathima Beevi, the first female Supreme Court judge in India, Satyabrata Mookherjee, former BJP president in West Bengal, and Togdan Rinpoche, spiritual leader of the Drikung Kagyu Tradition in Ladakh.
For 2024, the President has approved 132 Padma awards, up from 106 last year, including foreigners, NRI/PIO/OCI, and posthumous recipients. Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the awardees for their significant contributions to various fields, describing them as "change-makers."
