Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu is not based on any folk legend as many thought. Instead, it’s a fictional story about a powerful figure who stands for Sanatana Dharma. The hero is imagined as a mix of both Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva, just like Ayyappa Swamy, who is believed to be born from Shiva and Mohini. The name itself, Hari (Vishnu) and Hara (Shiva), says it all.

After Jyothi Krishna took over the direction, the script was completely changed. He kept the core idea but gave it a fresh style. The film shows the hero holding a Damarukam, symbolising Shiva, and also uses the eagle, which represents Garuda, Vishnu’s vahana. Pawan Kalyan appears in a bold new role as a rebel who stands up to the Mughal empire and fights for Dharma.

Produced by A.M. Rathnam under Mega Surya Production, the film has been made on a grand scale. After the trailer went viral, many distributors came forward offering big deals. The film also stars Bobby Deol, Nidhhi Agerwal and others. With music by M.M. Keeravani and visuals by Gnana Shekar and Manoj Paramahamsa, the team is aiming to give a full-on theatrical experience. Hari Hara Veera Mallu releases on July 24.
