The upcoming movie Peddi is already creating strong buzz in the Telugu film industry even before its release. According to the latest reports, the movie’s Nizam rights were sold for nearly Rs 63 crore. Out of this amount, Rs 5 crore is said to be a recoverable advance. This news has now become one of the hottest topics in Tollywood circles.
The film stars Ram Charan in the lead role and is directed by Buchi Babu Sana. Fans are expecting the movie to become a massive pan-India success. Because of the strong craze around Ram Charan after RRR, distributors and exhibitors are also showing huge interest in the project.
At the same time, another controversy connected to the exhibition sector has become a major discussion point in the industry. Recently, Telangana Film Exhibitors Association held a big press meet in Hyderabad. During the meeting, exhibitors clarified that they did not target Peddi movie in any way. They strongly said that some people were trying to make the issue personal without understanding the actual facts.
The exhibitors also explained that they have been fighting for the percentage system in theatres since 2008. According to them, theatres are struggling for survival and exhibitors should also be protected for the industry to stay healthy. They said their demands are fair and they are always ready for discussions with producers and distributors.
The association further stated that they never wanted conflicts with producers. Instead, they are asking for better communication and coordination between all sections of the film industry. Exhibitors also assured that they are ready to solve problems in a peaceful manner.
Now, all eyes are on the important Film Chamber meeting that is expected to happen soon. Industry people are waiting to see what kind of decisions will be taken regarding the ongoing issues between producers and exhibitors.
