Petition filed against Lokesh Kanagaraj; Here's why
Raju Murugan from Madurai filed this request because he wants to stop the movie Leo, directed by Kanagaraj, saying it has violent scenes.
A petition has been made in court to check the mental condition of director Lokesh Kanagaraj. Raju Murugan from Madurai filed this request because he wants to stop the movie Leo, directed by Kanagaraj, saying it has violent scenes. The petition also asks for a psychological evaluation of Kanagaraj.
The petition argues that the movie Leo, starring Vijay, mostly shows scenes promoting violence like using weapons and displaying religious symbols. It also talks about drugs, violence against women and children. Additionally, it accuses the film of supporting illegal activities such as riots, drug trade, and using guns. It suggests the movie portrays a belief that any crime can be done with police assistance.
The petitioner believes movies like this should face strict scrutiny by the censorship board. They think Lokesh Kanagaraj should undergo a proper mental assessment. The petition also demands a complete ban on Leo under Indian criminal law. The court case, presented to judges Krishnakumar and Vijayakumar, got postponed because Kanagaraj's legal team was absent.
'Leo' marks the second project where Thalapathy Vijay and director Lokesh Kanagaraj have teamed up since 'Master'. The screenplay for this film was crafted by Lokesh along with Rathna Kumar and Deeraj Vaidy. This action-packed movie features a star-studded cast, including Vijay, Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Mysskin, Sandy, and Gautham Menon in significant roles. Supporting roles were portrayed by Mathew Thomas, Mansoor Ali Khan, Priya Anand, and various other actors.
